If we want to define digital design we would say , it's the orderly manipulation of digital signals by hardware components , signals on the world takes two forms analog or digital , while the analog is the most primitive form , digital system can't process the absolute value of the analog signal here's come the digital concept , the most fundamental concept in digital design is the binary notation , which is the simplest representation of the digital signals , the smallest piece of the binary system is the bit , a bit can hold a single piece of information either a logic 1 "high or true" or logic 0 "low or false" , as we said before digital system can't process the absolute value of the analog value , then how can employ our digital systems processing capability ? , the answer is on the logic levels representation , where the hardware devices can understand the intended piece of information represented as direct current voltage ( VDC ), a logic one is represented by 5VDC while a logic one is represented by 0 VDC , this is the generic view , newer systems like CMOS represents the logic one with a 3.3VDC and a logic 0 with 0 VDC .
